Overtime Management – Overview & Setup

The Overtime Management feature allows you to automatically calculate overtime hours based on your configured threshold. This helps you stay compliant with labor laws and ensures fair compensation. When enabled, overtime hours are calculated at 2x the normal rate and are included in your timesheet export.

How It Works

  1. Open the Time Clock Admin Panel
    Go to Store > Time Clock Admin Panel in Commerce7.

  2. Go to Overtime Settings
    Click Settings > Overtime Policies.

  3. Enable Overtime Tracking
    Toggle the Enable overtime hours switch.

    Enabling this setting will add a new column to the timesheet export that calculates overtime hours multiplied by 2.

  4. Set Overtime Threshold
    Enter the number of hours an employee must work before overtime applies (e.g., 40).

  5. Choose How Overtime Accumulates
    Use the Overtime accumulates dropdown to select:

    • Per Day

    • Per Week

    The system will use your selection to calculate when overtime begins based on total worked hours.

  6. Save Settings
    Click Save to activate your overtime policy.

Admin Controls

In the Overtime Policies settings page, Admins can:

  • Enable/disable overtime tracking

  • Define the threshold for overtime eligibility

  • Choose daily or weekly accumulation

  • Export a timesheet CSV with 2x overtime hours calculated automatically

Best Practices

  • Align your settings with state or country-specific labor laws

  • Use the weekly method if employees have varying daily schedules

  • Monitor exports regularly to control labor costs

FAQs

Q: Can I use both daily and weekly overtime rules together?
A: Not currently. You can only select one accumulation method (daily or weekly).

Q: Are overtime hours visible to employees?
A: No. Overtime calculations are available only to Admins through timesheet exports.

Q: Can I change the overtime multiplier (e.g., 1.5x instead of 2x)?
A: Not at this time. Overtime is calculated at a fixed 2x multiplier.
